Welcome to the UK Fish Processing Industry Climate Change Levy Discount Scheme

"From April 1st 2001 all UK businesses had to pay a new energy tax. This tax, the Climate Change Levy, has added about 15% to energy costs. The Government is allowing many industrial sectors to receive an 80% discount on this new tax by participating in a "Climate Change Agreement" (CCA).

On behalf of the Fish Industry, the Grimsby Fish Merchants Association and the Scottish Fish Merchants Federation have negotiated a CCA specifically designed to address the circumstances of the fish processing industry. It is expected that up to 500 fish processing sites in the UK will benefit from taking part in the Fish Industry CCA.

How much will you save?

Even small companies should save several thousand pounds every year. Larger sites could save ten times this amount. To assess the saving potential, look at recent electricity and gas bills and find out how much you have been paying in CCL charges. Through joining this scheme, this amount will reduce by 80%.

Under a CCA you will be expected to improve the energy efficiency of your site so you will save money on energy as well as getting the 80% tax discount. To get these savings you must apply to the Fish Processing Industry Climate Change Levy Discount Scheme and set up a CCA for your company.
