Brief answers to frequently asked questions

13 WILL IPPC SITES MEET THEIR ENERGY REQUIREMENTS?

Some very large bakeries in the craft bakery industry may need to obtain an IPPC licence before the end of 2003. The new IPPC Directive includes requirements for energy efficiency.

It has been agreed with the Environment Agency that a site that meets targets in a CCLA will be deemed to have met the IPPC energy efficiency requirements providing that the site also undertakes certain "baseline activities". These are closely linked to the Qualitative Requirements used in CCLAs. See Information Sheet 7 for details about Qualitative Requirements and IPPC baseline requirements.
