TRADE ASSOCIATION LISTS

NAMB/SAMB are the lead organisations for the CCLA in the craft baking sector. Non-NAMB/SAMB members in this sector are welcome to join the Master Bakers Agreement.

Potential Participants should be aware that several other Trade Associations in the food industry are setting up their own CCLAs with DEFRA. If you have sites with processes covered by these Associations you will need to apply to them to obtain your Levy discount. Table 4.1 lists the other Trade Associations likely to have CCLAs.

Companies that wish to participate in the Master Bakers Climate Change Levy Discount Scheme may find it difficult to know which Agreement will apply for one of two reasons:

  • A company may own several sites, some of which are covered by the Master Bakers Agreement and others which are covered by a completely separate Agreement; e.g. the company owns a flour mill (FDF) and a craft bakery (Master Bakers). In these circumstances the company will need to set up separate CCLAs under both Trade Associations – each individual site must be part of the appropriate Agreement.

  • A single site may have a mixture of products that cross the boundaries between Trade Association Agreements. A site should only belong to one Agreement – the one to be chosen should reflect the majority activity taking place (e.g. if a site was 30% flour milling and 70% craft baking it should apply to the Master Bakers Scheme).

It is worth noting that the FDF CCLA has a bakery sub-sector. This is intended for large industrial bakeries, not for craft bakeries.
