INFORMATION SHEET 4

TRADE ASSOCIATION LISTS

MPMA are the lead organisations for the CCLA in the metal packaging sector. Non-MPMA members in this sector are welcome to join the MPMA Agreement.

Potential Participants should be aware that numerous other Trade Associations are setting up their own CCLAs with DEFRA. If you have sites with processes covered by these Associations you will need to apply to them to obtain your Levy discount. Table 4.1 lists the other Trade Associations likely to have CCLAs.

Companies that wish to participate in the MPMA Climate Change Levy Discount Scheme may find it difficult to know which Agreement will apply for one of two reasons:

  • A company may own several sites, some of which are covered by the MPMA Agreement and others which are covered by a completely separate Agreement. In these circumstances the company will need to set up separate CCLAs under both Trade Associations – each individual site must be part of the appropriate Agreement.

  • A single site may have a mixture of products that cross the boundaries between Trade Association Agreements. A site should only belong to one Agreement – the one to be chosen should reflect the majority activity taking place.
