Unreleased Live Songs
The songs that haven't (yet) been released, and haven't featured on any Peel Sessions are here. The lyrics had to go, I'm afraid.Fe fe, fi fi, fo fo fum I smell smoke from the auditorium Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown He's a clown, that Charlie Brown He's gonna get caught, just you wait and see 'Why's everybody always picking on me?'(Thanks to Andy Sandall for that!)
"Johnny Cash sings Crass. I happen to be a fan of former and huge fan of
latter. Apparently Ken is also a hug fan of latter too and when at
Bradford 1 in 12 spent hours in the anarchist library there (if you dont
know the 1 in 12 is a squat or used to be and is run by an
anarcho-collective). So could be Nigel taking piss out of him!? Also
Noam Chomsky - I left my Chomsky at the Waterstones' book launch - is
also an anarchist as well as a linguist. To be precise he defines
himself as a libertarian socialist. So there! Also HMHB were billed to
play at the anarchist festival in London - Seven (? - might have been
Ten) days that shook the world - a couple of years ago during the
anarcho football part of the festivities. They didnt play in the end.
I seem to remember my mate Stuart quoting Nigel as saying that the
organisation was a bit poor but that "that's anarchists for you".
Perhaps HMHB ought to release JCSCrass as a single with the generic
Crass records stenciled type face etc and pay no more than 45p
stipulation."
In the days leading up to This Leaden Pall,
the following songs were played live which were clearly subsequently
altered before recording the LP:
Covers
Trail of the Lonesome Pine Laurel and Hardy classic.
Mr. Blue Sky By ELO. At Liverpool Poly a few years back,
this was dedicated "to the boys on the Woody". For those
not from Birkenhead, the Woody is a notorious estate immortalized
in several 80's documentaries on smack.
No Regrets Of course! The Edith Piaf number.
Novelty, 24 Hours, Disorder All from Joy Division.
Match Of The Day theme tune, a solo by Nigel.
You've Got To Hide Your Love Away Beatles tune, knocked out at the Mean Fiddler in 1995.

Transmission Another Joy Division cover, excellently reproduced June '97.
