There is something about a Half Man Half Biscuit gig that is, almost, a "spiritual" experience. Where else can you see grown men bouncing at the front of the gig with oven gloves on. As expected, the boys pulled off a cracking set. This is only the second time I have seen the band play, and although last years Edinburgh gig was great, this seemed even better. Perhaps something to do with playing in my home town. Nigel was on fine form and the banter started straight away with him taking off his new boots because they were so uncomfortable. The evening seemed to take on a golfing theme with Nigel referring to St Andrews Golf Course and having two pairs of trousers in case "he gets a hole in one", as well as "...his head was found on the driving range and his body has never been found". When asked by one of the punters what he went around around the course in, he replied "just a pair of trousers and a top, like"! Not escaping football, Nigel jokingly revealed that Ken is Doug Rougvie's second cousin. Doug Rougvie played in the Aberdeen team that Beat Real Madrid 2-1 in the 1983 European Cup Winners Cup Final. Plenty other good bits of banter with Nigel referring to the local area such as the Girdleness Lighthouse and Kirkhill Forest. Nice to see some Dukla tops on display as well. I hope you had a good time in Aberdeen boys. On to the setlist in no particular order. This is from memory, so apologies if I miss anything out.
